Students will be introduced to 10 vocabulary words for the persuasive unit. Students will need to define each word and become familiar with it's definition by next Tuesday to be successful on the quiz. Students will practice analyzing persuasive writing. Students will read two different examples (file below) of persuasive essays and answer multiple choice questions for each. The first essay focuses on the content of the essay (comprehension practice), and the second focuses on the writing process of the essay. This will allow students to become familiar with persuasive writing, as that is our focus on your next extended writing assignment. This activity will also act as a pre assessment for our discussion about persuasion on Thursday.
Acuity Practice- 8.W.4 Students will have 15 minutes to answer 7 questions. 5 of the questions are multiple choice and 2 are constructed response. This will give students an opportunity to practice time management skills when required and answer questions in a timely fashion. This is a reflect of the expectation for next week's I-STEP. All questions cover the standard W.4 which is over the writing process.
