Think back to the first book you ever read or was read to (favorite children's book). Write two paragraphs.
*First paragraph: tell what the book was, how old you were/ grade, why you chose to read it, and where did you read the book (home, school, library, tree house, ect.) *Second paragraph: 5-7 sentence summary about the book.
Week 2- Weekly Write: Due Sept. 11
September 11th is a day Americans will always remember. Although the events that took place on this day are not remembered with joy and happiness, we remember this day because of the impact it made on our country and solidified what it means to "Be An American." Now it is your turn to describe a day you will never forget. This can be a happy or sad event, which ever you can provide the most vivid description of. Your memoir should be no more than one page but you must include the following: * The day you will never forget. * Vivid description of that day. *Provide sensory details (your 5 senses) *At least two conjunctions used in each paragraph. *Correct spelling, punctuation, capitalization
Week 3: Due September 18
Describe your favorite season. What about that season is so special to you? Write at least two paragraphs describing your favorite season. DO NOT TELL WHAT YOUR FAVORITE SEASON IS!! Your writing should be so descriptive that the audience will be able to know what season you are describing. Be sure to include the following: * SENSORY DETAILS- ALL FIVE SENSES * example of dialogue * a simile OR metaphor * use of simple, compound AND complex sentences.
Week 4: Due September 25
FREE WRITE!!! This week I am allowing you to write about whatever you want over the topic, school. You can choose to write about why you like school or why you don't like school. You can write about a favorite day at school or a favorite teacher. You could also write about what you wish school could be like or how you would change school. IT is completely up to you what you write about but it must be focused on the topic of school!
Week 5: Due Oct. 2
What will your future career be? Explain what you hope to be when you grow up. If you don't know right now what you want to, describe a job that you like or that sounds interesting. In your writing you should explain what the career is and describe what you would do. Explain how you can start preparing today for your future career.
