Objectives: Students will be engaging in their silent reading level. Standards: 8.RL.1, RL.10, 8.RL.2.2, RL.2 Agenda: Silent reading. Every other MOnday is silent reading in Language arts. This is to provide more emphasis on their students silent reading level to help develop their independent reading level scores. Students were given several PDF's about activist is Reading Class last week. Students are to be reading these articles. Those whom are finished, may then read their AR books that is registered in their individual ZPD range.

Objectives: Students will construct sentences given and verb phrase (Bell Work). Students will understand the use of a verb phrase and identify what the most common linking verbs are. Students will read a sample personal narrative. Students will identify the main idea of the narrative to enhance their writing ability prior to being assessed on their own personal narrative. Standards: 8.W.3.3, 8.W.6.1b, 8.W.6.1d Agenda: Bell Work:Linking Verbs. To set up for our first large writing assignment in a few weeks, students will be reading a sample Personal Narrative and answering questions that focus on the main idea of the narrative. It is important that students can identify certain concepts of writing in sample pieces for when they write their own Personal Narrative they have identified the right and wrongs, and will be able to produce their own narrative as a stronger writer.

Objectives: STudents will correct fragment and run-on sentences to create complete sentences (bell work). Students will gain a better understanding for their vocabulary words this week. Students will identify the word's part of speech and use it correctly in a sentence. Students will also demonstrate their understanding for the word in creating quiz type questions. Standards:8.RV.1, 8.RV.2.1, 8.RV.2.4, 8.RV.3.1 Agenda: Bell Work:Continuation of Fragments and run-on sentences. Going over this week's vocabulary words and etymology section. ETYMOLOGY QUIZ #2 ON FRIDAY!!RETAKES FOR QUIZ #1 WILL BE OFFERED ON FRIDAY. Once going over this week's vocabulary list, students will be given a review assignment. THis is the same assignment from last week. This assignment, if done correctly, will help students prepare for their Reading quiz on Thursday as well as their Etymology quiz on Friday. STudents are to write each word 5X each. Then using the correct part of speech, students will be writing sentences using each vocabulary word. Lastly, students are to create a quiz type question for each of their vocabulary words. This question can be true/false, multi. choice, fill-in-the-blank, or short answer. The question can focus on the meaning of the word, the part of speech OR the etymology.
